I think you are right. We need to know how to assess the individual needs of students. I also think that more needs to be done to train teachers to diagnose the cause of some problems. ReplyDeleteI agree. It is so important to start intervention as soon as we see a problem. If we as educators do this from the beginning, we will truly find our special needs students as opposed to those who missed a concept in the very beginning. I have seen over and over that many students just missed something in a previous year, and if we back up to where the deficit started we are more likely to be successful with helping our students progress. I believe that this is the purpose of RTI.
